What is Lidl’s policy on single-use plastic bags?
Lidl has always encouraged customers to bring their own reusable bag from home and has never given away single-use plastic bags at checkout. The small fees we charge for our paper and reusable plastic bags help our customers save money by eliminating invisible pass through costs of ‘free bags’ that are often thrown away after a single use. Our approach is better for the environment and your wallet!
What are Lidl’s policies on cage-free eggs and chicken welfare?
Currently, we provide our customers with the option of purchasing cage-free eggs at all Lidl US stores. Additionally, we are working toward our goal of offering a 100% cage-free shell egg assortment by 2025 that also meets our requirements for availability, affordability, and product safety.
More broadly, we are working actively toward our goal that at least 20% of our listed fresh chicken assortment adheres to the European Chicken Commitment (ECC) Standard by 2026.
Is Lidl participating in the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil?
Yes, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a multi-stakeholder initiative with the aim of promoting the sustainable sourcing and use of certified sustainable palm oil, and Lidl is a member at the international level. The RSPO collaboratively develops a global standard for the entire supply chain of sustainable palm oil through a set of environmental and social criteria. These aim to reduce the negative impacts of palm oil cultivation.
